    I am glad to hear that other people find our city fathers’ attitudes a little parochial. Is it a mere 13 years ago that, as a proud Mancunian, I was on the receiving end of the following observation? Delivered in a heavy Wroclaw accent after a similar series of dubious assertions of primacy delivered in Manchester Town Hall -“This belief that Manchester is first with everything – it is really a kind of sickness, no?”
